Mairaj was born in a Sunni family of landlords situated in Khurja Bulandshahr a small district Of the Indian state Of Uttar Pradesh. His parents are Mt Ilyas Ahmed Khan and Mrs. Farrukh. He started Sport in 195 right after his college. Shooting was introduced to him through his uncle which gradually his profesion.

His younger brother Najam Ahmed Khan is also a National Champion in this Sport. His other siblings are Siraj Ahmad Khan and Farheen Ilyas Khan. He is married to Zarah Ali Khan who is an mation Profßsional. His first international competition was the ISF World Cup in 2003 in Lonato. Italy
